I wrote the bulk of my arts & culture material for the weekly papers in Portland and Eugene a couple of decades ago. I post a few samples here, along with selected profiles of interesting people.  In 2007 I published a scholarly paper, "Music on the Cusp: From Folk to Acid Rock in Portland Coffeehouses, 1967–1970" in the Oregon Historical Quarterly about the music scene in Portland in the late 1960s. That material has been incorporated into the Oregon Historical Society's Fall 2011 exhibit on the history of music in Oregon.
