I've been working as a freelance journalist since 1991. I started out writing whatever I could get for local publications in Oregon, including Willamette Week and Eugene Weekly. In about 1995 I began writing about environmental health and have stayed on the science and environment beat for the most part, with the occasional foray into arts & culture stories, and even more occasional forays into creative writing, including songwriting and fiction.
